I played this avi with 96.12 and it it played fine through the mvp.
Now with 97.7. I try again and it quits after 5 - 30 secs. I tried all kinds of things but nothing worked. I try another avi: it plays fine no problem.
So the problem is in the 1st avi. I let pvastrumento check the produced mpg, it had alot of errors so that would have caused it. What puzzles me is why it did play ok in 96.12.

Nothing has changed that I can think of that would cause this.

I'd be curious to know if you pause as soon as playback starts, wait thirty seconds, then resume, does it make it further through the file?

I thought it was that particular avi because when I tried another it played very well. But later I tried again and then this avi stopped within secs.
So it must be something else. All I find in the log is:

19-5-2006 19:48:20.843 VERBOSE [7] MVP Streaming Server received STOP message

this is the exact time where it stops.

I looked again, this time I saw something about the playbackmanager in the logs at almost the same time. So I switched off the ask-for-resume-function. Now it's running fineSmile
Strange is though, the times before I didn't see the playbackmanager mentioned at the time of the stop.
So I'll do some more testing.

Just to add: pausing for a while and then continue didn't make a difference.

Sorry, I dont know then. I cant think of anything that has changed in this area of the app that would make the old version more tolerant.

It's hard to tell for me either, I never (almost never) play avi's.

Most of the time it stopped and went back to the menu, now I had it reboot the mvp a few times but it happened at the exact same framenumber so that would have been a faul avi.
If I feel like it I'll test some more and we'll see.
I have the idea you have more urgent issues on your plate.Smile
