Widescreen help

Hi all. I'm trying to get my setup working on widescreen in time for the world cup. I'm a bit confused, however as to whether my PVR350 can actually capture in widescreen.

The thing that's confusing me is this. The PVR350 captures in PAL 720x576. This isn't 4:3 or 16:9 - is it something to do with non-square pixels?

Can I squash a widescreen input into 720x576 and unsquash it for playback with GBPVR?

When it comes to MPEG files, the aspect ratio isnt dictated by the resolution. Instead, it contains the intended aspect ratio in the MPEG sequence header. The PVR350 always marks recordings as 4:3.

At playback time you can press F7 to cycle between aspect ratio.
