can't FF or Rew prerecorded shows

I have a PVR-250 and an Nvidia card with tv-out, and I can't FF or REW recordings. I couldn't FF or REW live TV until I read a post about SBE. Now with that turned on I can FF and REW live TV, so I know my hauppauge remote works.

FF and REW live TV still sometimes doesn't work, I don't know if this is related.

I can't fast forward or rewind recordings. I can fast forward and rewind live tv, sometimes (sometimes it doesn't work), but I can't fast forward or rewind recordings.

I don't know how else to say it.

Just curious, what video card do you have and what decoders are you using? I've got an FX5600 and am using the the Intervideo MPEG-2 decoders from the Hauppauge site and I can rewind and fast forward recordings fine (also worked on my GF4 MX440 before I switched systems).
