Title says it all. I have tried twice to program my setup to change channels on my pace digibox, following the wiki, HIP and HIPSend. Neither time will it do anything - even lost some of the functionality of the remote (MCE 2005 v 2.0).

Can anyone help with a ccf file that at least might get me started? At least that way I'll know if it is my programming efforts (pathetic at the best of times) or a hardware problem.

I have looked at remote central and googled until my head spun but not sure I found anything useful.

TIA

Arjay, I've been in the same boat and for the moment I've given up. I'm braindead from trying too. But I did search for 'Digibox' on the Remote Central forum and downloaded some CCF files. I used HIP's built in utility to import those and selected individual commands/numbers when setting up HIP. Testing those codes in HIP I found that only some of them worked, but at least I was a step forward from my efforts with GB-PVR's builtin in support or the 'learn' method in HIP.

Later I discovered that because I had become so confused by HIPGuide and Forum advice, and HIP's own Wizard that I never got to the end of HIPGuide where it seems to say that in addition to all the foregoing info, I still had to install an extra utility called HIPSend and then select that in GB-PVR's config (I had been selecting HIP.exe). The previously imported CCF keys have to be added again using HIPSend (I think), and when I did that I got my first numbers appearing on my Sky output screen. Not the right numbers but at least numbers are being sent and my blaster is working.

That's where I'm currently parked until I get a chance to troubleshoot some more. Hope this helps.

I got a bit further, in that I did use hipsend and got to the stage that the right numbers appeared on the screen when I pressed them. The only problem was that the numbers never changed any channels.

I think that only a few sky users have ever used this software - i never got any replies to previous posts on a range of issues. I must say that whilst the core components of gbpvr are very good , the stuff we really need to work - remotes, keyboards, epg etc are rather weak IMHO. I think i am going to have to go back to Msoft's media centre, or try something elese like media portal.

That's really weird!

I would have expected that the display of the numbers is the exact equivalent of using the handheld digibox remote. And that if I get '101' on screen then the digibox will change to that channel.

I was getting the wrong numbers and I was getting the effect of two key presses for every one I made, but I felt sure that I was close to a resolution.

My suspicion was that the wrong numbers were somehow related to the relationship between the Channels tab on the Config and the actual channels loaded by the EPG into the Capture section. I still don't fully understand how HipSend/GB-PVR gets the right channel number output. Do I select the Channel in the 'Channels' order e.g. press key '4' for the fourth channel in the order, or do I have to ensure that my digibox '104' is selected by pressing the actual digibox sequence of '104'.

Still GB-PVR is a terrific piece of software. Most of it works fine on relatively low-powered PCs (more than can be said of MediaPortal), and it manges to leverage so much utility out of the Hauppauge card and MediaMVP hardware. And remarkably, with the core body of work (including Support!!) coming from one man.

Makes me feel a little guilty when I go on about the problems I'm having Smile

Let us know how you get on and I'll do llikewise. I'm surprised there aren't more of us UK digibox users trying to solve the same problems.

You need to set your capture source to fixed channel to whatever you have your sky box connected to your capture card. Then number your channels to what they are on sky ie 101 for BBC. If you follow the guide on the wiki it does work, you may have to mess around with the timmings comming from hipsend.

Thanks Jase.

I have my digibox capture on my PVR-350 composite in, and have numbered the channels properly in the EPG. That's not the real problem.

The real problem is getting the scheduling working so that I can set up a recording in the TV Guide or watch Live TV and successfully switch the Digibox channels. The built in support for the MCE Remote 2005 doesn't seem to work with the Digibox, or at least didn't work for me. And HIP learning, and even HIP with imported CCF files don't work properly.

Have you managed to get a digibox to change channels properly with GB-PVR and the Microsoft MCE Remote 2005 IR blasters?

If so, can you spell out how you've achieved it?

Yes I have, thanks.

Can I ask again, did you manage to get the GB-PVR, MCE Remote 2005, and Digibox combination working?

Thanks,

Yes i have got it working. I just followed the guide on the wiki and with a bit of trial and error on the timings it works ok.

Thanks Jase,

That's very encouraging. With a bit more sweat I should get there then. Any chance you could let us know the timings that worked for you?
