Can't Pause or Watch while recording!?

EDIT: I THINK I FIXED IT. I changed it to OVERLAY mode and it now works. The only problem is that it seems somewhat slow to respond to pause and stuff, even though I thought the recording is done by the hardware itself? (I have a ATI THEATRE 550)

Help! When I try to pause live tv it says "STARTING TIMESHIFT MODE, PLEASE WAIT"

Then after a few seconds the screen goes blank and I have to exit back to the menu and go back to LIVE TV to get a picture.

Also, while recording a show, it doesn't let me watch TV (It's just black screen again)

Any help greatly appreciated!!
