Is there a way to backspace or delete characters mis-entered in the search field (w/o a keyboard)?

I've been playing around with the search guide text entry by using the Hauppauge 45-button remote's # keys like a cellphone in 98.8, but sometimes there is a lag between my presses on the remote and the response on the screen. This is ok with me, except that sometimes when entering letters, this causes a "letter timeout" such that continuing to press the button gives me another letter, instead of rotating through that key's list.

eg. When trying to spell "Prison" You would ideally have to press 7-777-444-7777-666-66. In some of these letter rotations, I might end up with "P-pp-i-pr-omm".

If there isn't a way, might I suggest using the Left arrow to move the cursor back, and perhaps overwriting the mis-entered character?

It was supposed to be the left arrow to delete, but a bug was stopping that from happening. I've fixed it for the next release. I've also increased the delay from 1.2 seconds to 2 seconds.

With the new text entry, is there any way to differentiate from the remote and the PC keyboard?. I've not really used the remote yet, but find it somewhat annoying searching for something like Room 101, only to see Room .0. in the search when using the normal PC keyboard.

cheers - I've turned it off for the time being.

No, unfortunately there isnt, so its up to the user to decide if this feature should be enabled or not.

I can however tell if you're using an MVP. This search text entry stuff is always enable if you're on an MVP.

Sub, I had the startings of a remote entry class, and I found using the prev channel command handy for backsapce, (or anything other than one of the direction commands), as quite often you would also want to use the direction commands for something different on the screen....

I used the left arrow since thats what I'd used in other other parts of the app that already do text entry (ie, filename in manual recording). I wanted to be consistent.

You also need to be aware that the 'prev channel' key is only really present on the Hauppauge 45 button remote. It is not present on the MCE remotes, including the Hauppauge MCE remote, and is missing from most other remotes.

ahh, can't remember what key it's mapped to I did try some of the others, the # and "the other one" but couldn't get them to work figureing that any remote with a number pad probably has these two keys.

Ah - problem solved then (for me at least).

Thanks
