I had this problem some weeks ago on several different days. It has since gone away but I am not sure why. I had made some configuration changes (Currently using nVidea Pure Video for video decoder, Cyberlink audio decoder, and the system default audio renderer ). You might try using Cyberlink decoders since these are what are shipped in most of ATI's partner's packages for 550Pro boards.

I think sub is correct! The problem is likely due to the 550Pro interaction with one or more of the other drivers involved in playback.

Based on the following ATI claim for the Theater 550Pro (ATI Feature Description), it should handle all the mechanics of audio recording:
"Built-in digital audio capture enables perfectly synchronized video and audio"

A couple of days ago I stumbled upon this Hexus ATI User Forum during a Google search:

http://forums.hexus.net/forumdisplay.php?f=123

It has a sub forum dealing with the newer ATI TV tuners, and appears to have an ATI employee participating. This is strange since a search of ATI's site support turned up no reference to this forum.

This may be the best avenue for follks to pursue if the problem persists.

I'm still having this problem. Thought an update to the 550 driver would fix it but it didn't. I use AC3Filter and updated that but still no joy. Anybody else having any luck?

See my post below. I had this problem and it went away after some playing around with Playback configuration in GB-PVR Config. I am not sure why, and was in a pissed off mood and did not record the process.

I still think it is an ATI problem. You might want to start a new thread at the Hexus ATI Forum, given in my post below, if the problem persists for you.

I purchased the card despite misgivings about ATI drivers and support (past very negative experience). I was swayed by rave reviews on video quality and ATI claims of superior on chip audio integration. The video quality is really good. Audio synchronization and recording turned out to be problematic. ATI have done several driver releases since I purchased the card, but have never provided Release Notes for any of them. You apparently have to take them on faith (in short supply in my case - I always archive installers for at least two previous driver versions before installing a new one).

Hi all! Long time GBPVR user, first time problem reporter...

I too suddenly got this problem, which at first I thought was random, but now it seems like every 4th recording experienced nothing but static for audio.

My setup:
- ATI (MSI) Theater 550 Pro
- Intel P4 1.5 on Gigabyte mobo
- 2GB DDR
- ATI Radeon 9200 128MB
- Creative Audigy (SB0092)

I'm running GBPVR 0.98.13, Theater 550 drivers 6.14.10.199. This is the first place I've found even mentioning this problem. I don't want to sound like a heretic, but has this occurred to anyone with, say, BeyondTV?
