I've never attempted something like this before. What i want to do is after my dvr-ms files convert to mpg or when recordings are created as mpgs, have them converted to xvid using autogk. I would like to specify settings for each folder. Some shows have black bars, or are 16x9 with no black bars, or are 4x3..etc....

So it would be like My Name is Earl is recorded as dvr-ms>converted to mpeg>scanned with comskip>delete dvr-ms>run auto gk based on settings for My Name is Earl folder>delete mpeg file>Have an xvid version in gbpvr database...

I'm not really concerned with having commercials in there, i plan on manually editing those out in the future...

Does anyone have or can anyone create a generic batch file for me to start off with and build upon?

EDIT: How long should it take to convert a 6 gb dvr-ms to mpeg? Its been running around 50 minutes and is not done. There is a 17.5 mb .mpg in the directory(which hasnt changed insize since it was created), and gbpvrconvert.exe is at 100 percent cpu utilization. Does this sound normal?
Thanks,
zach

It'd usually only take a few minutes, so I can only guess something has gone wrong. Its most likely because the Cyberlink decoder doesnt like something in the stream. A few ATSC users have had this.

I'll leave the batch file part of the question to someone else.

Found a slighty older cyberlink mux(from that dvrms to mpg program) Seems to be working so far...

Batch files are really easy - they are just text files renamed with a .bat or .cmd extention

This and this are probably good starting points

You should be able to call any application that can be run from the command line
