My laptop (http://www.pc.toshiba-asia.com/product/products.jsp) is working fine with MCE but the function's very limited and i really want to use gbpvr but can't get it to work.

Went to Sytems Properties to check what sort of tv tuner/capture card installed. Found out that its Toshiba TV tuner or somthing like that (I thought it would be Hauppauge or whatever). I need to find out what the manufacturer that supplied to toshiba because gbpvr is asking me what kind of tuner i got and none of what's shown in gbpvr configuration drop down menu is showing "Toshiba TV Tuner".

Have checked toshiba's website to look for drivers but does not have drivers for the tv tuner so i can't find out what tha actual name of the tv tuner is. Have also read the manual from back to front, even read all of the appendix and can't find this info out.

can you please help the noob? thanks

The only thing I found about drivers for this tv tuner is from here. I think if you unzip the download from that page, right click the ttv400x.ini file you should be able to install it as a driver.

Not sure if that is what you were asking for? Or do you already have drivers for this card?
If so, what happens if you click the checkbox for 'Only show devices detected on my machine' in the settings for the recording source? does this leave any options left in the dropdown?

Thanks Carlito,

I've downloaded the driver just incase i will need it.

What i really need to know in fact is, during the configuration phase of installing GBPVR, i don't know which to select as the Recording Source in the Create Capture Source menu. And when in Recording Source settings i don't know what i should select as the Capture Card Type is whent he menu asks me.

I'm at work right now, but when i click on the drop down menu in Capture Card type, it listed two or three different names in there ( i can't exactly remember). But after trial and error-ing all of them none is giving me any satellite images.

Likewise for the Recording Source drop down menu. Several items were listed in there and confused as to which to select.

I don't use EPG data and it keeps on asking me for epg source even after specifically select "no epg data" (or something along that line)

So, what should i select as the Capture Card type and Recording Source for my Toshiba Qosmio notebook??

thanks

I dont know of anyone using this device with GB-PVR, so there is a good chance it isnt compatible. If it has an onboard hardware MPEG2 encoder, and is similar to the Hauppauge cards, then you might get lucky, but you'll need to add a new section to the direct.ini file that specifies all the correct names for this device.
