98.08b Config crashes

First time install, with ATI550Pro based card. Config won't start - just crashes with the standard 'send error report to microsoft' window. I've scanned the forums for possible solutions, checked my DB settings are correct, updated my media player, can't find any other possibilities mentioned.

The log files are all empty, and the GBPVR app runs fine, but I can't set anything up because config won't run - frustrating.

Anyone got any ideas?

What does the error message say?

If you're on Windows 2000, you might need to upgrade your version of Windows Media Player.

It's just the standard XP - 'and error has ocurred and this program has to close...' etc, with the option to send an error report to microsoft. I'm running latest media player in XP SP2.

Is there a way to enable any debug options that might show something before the operating system dialog (which isn't real helpful)??

Is there anything in the event viewer that might help?
