With DVDs already on the hard drive (Audio & Video folders, and they appear in the Recordings list) is there anyway to convert (is this called transcode) these to mpeg?
I've tried the DVD to MPEG button (I get a "access to the path C:\system volume information denied" but there was no disc in the DVD player. Also, I turned Indexing off but that didn't help with the error.
I also pressed Transcode in the Recordings section but nothing happened.

Thanks,
Dave

You could try to see your DVD folder in the video plugin... If you can see it, it's possible to convert..

Here's a couple of catches... GB-PVR does not have a transcode option to go to MPEG by default. You'll need to edit the config.xml

Add this to the <CustomFFmpegConversions> section

Code:
<Conversion name="MediaMVP MPG" cmd="-y -i {SOURCE_FILE} -f svcd -b 2400 -ab 224 -ac 2 -r 29.97 -s 640x480 -padtop 50 -padbottom 50 {DEST_FILE}" targetExtension=".mpg" />

Heres another tricky part...

DVDs are really large MPEG files broken into 1 Gigbyte chuncks They're called VOB files. If you transcode the vob into a smaller, friendlier Mpeg file, you may only get part of the DVD becuase the transcode procedure won't span the VOBs.

My little utility will span the vobs... Except I haven'y tried it from the Transcode menu in the Video plugin.

Here's how it works when you run it manually, (from the computer desktop)

You must have the DVD already decrypted. You can find which VOB is that start of the movie. Usually there will be a sequence of VOBs in ascedning order. My Program will take each VOB in a VOB set and make it one very large DVD quality MPEG. (Because the file size will undoubtedly reach 4 and 5 GB it will only be possible on XP in NTFS file system)

Then it will take that very large MPEG and transcode it to a smaller more manageable MPEG.

If you're interested check out the wiki entry for ZProcess...

Frank - that looks great except the zip file doesn't seem to be downloading. Any ideas with that?
