Client/Server networking

Him im kind of new to the whole GBPVR thing. I am trying to set it up so i can stream live tv on my lap top from my desktop. I have tried searching for a guide on setting up a gbpvr server but couldnt find one. Does anyone have any links,ideas,pointers as far as how to set up the whole client/server with gbpvr and what are all the requirements ( eg plugins etc...) I do have a fully working network in my house and this would be used on my lan between a desktop and a lap top

It is actually pretty simple since sub implemented the client/server as part of the 98.8 release.

As far as I can remember, no changes need to be made to the server. When configuring the client you will need to set up your laptop as a client (on the capture sources tab) and not as having a tuner card.

I had trouble with my client pc because I forgot that it doesn't have the same video card as my server. I had to set the playback to vmr7 in order to get good playback. I don't use any plugins except for weather and I'm using the standard blue skin on the server and the community skin on my client.

You may have to share the appropriate folders on the server, so that the client can access them?

All you have to do is share your gbpvr installation dir on the server! Then tell the client via the config app where the share is! Easy peasy! Also tell it the network name of your server(all in the config app)!

ok so on the server everything is working fine. I am sharing the dir where all the gbpvr files are as well as the buffer, recordings folder. Now do i have to launch anything else on the server or do I just have to run gbpvr in tray????
On the client machine i set "configure this machine to act as client" and then i selected file sharing and i set all te paths to the shared dirs. now how do i launch gbpvr. it seems since its acting as client it does not launch the program??
