I'm not really sure.

You could try setting <ForceFMBufferingMode>true</ForceFMBufferingMode> in config.xml, and installing the LAME encoder from http://www.elecard.com/ftp/pub/directsho..._dshow.zip

I assume buffering means write to a file instead of play directly (like live tv preview vs timeshift)? I have lame but always get the zipped version of stuff, so nothing is registered. I guess the install registers a filter that is otherwise unavailable? I can try this tonight. It should be something easy - post 31 describes how I could get FM in GB-PVR messing with graphedit.

To install the filter you need to run:

regsvr32 c:\path\to\lame.ax

Got it - what that was became more obvious when I looked at the lame site.

I tried what you said. I get two more things in the graph, as shown below, but they aren't linked. So I tried manually linking Output0 to the lame encoder filter and got an error that they weren't compatible or something. So then I linked Output2 and it worked. I changed the direct.ini PIN_ENCODER_OUT to Output2 and tried again but got the same graph as the first time. In a proper graph does the lame filter come right after the Capture one?

I don't see anything in the logs so if you need that I'll have to do it again.

The FM radio support in GB-PVR looks like it just doesnt work with this type of card. Its really only been developed and tested with Hauppauge and ATI cards. If I had one of these card myself, or more time to work through it (supplying test versions etc), then I'd probably be able to get it working for you, but unfortunately I'm pretty snowed under at the moment so it'll probably have to stay borken with the Vixs cards for now. Sorry.

No problem. Since there's no FM scheduling in GB-PVR it's not a big deal to use their software (except it only records to WAV). If you want to try to get it working later I'll help out if I can. Regardless of FM support I'm not getting a very good picture compared to my 150 and I don't know if I can get my cable signal any better, so it might have to go (unfortunately).

It turns out that the Saber 2020 is based on a Philips design, where XCode (Vixs Chip) is used as a companion chip for encoding. The main chip is a Philips decoder that runs as a PCIe device. The driver is not the Vixs WDM driver. It’s from Philips.

The Vixs driver works ok on my test system. We just need to figure out which boards use the Vixs supplied drivers.

Hope this late reply helps.

Hello all,
It's been along time since i've used GB-PVR, but it looks like it's come a long ways. I have been using SageTV but they have a problem with the Saber2020 that can't be fixed right now (Unable to use hardware encoding on card). I'm wondering if anyone has tried the newest drivers? I don't care about the FM Tuner, I just need both tuners to work. And if I can get it working well then I will be adding a second Saber2020, to have a total of 4 tuners. If you have your card working well with GB-PVR could you tell me these things please:

What drivers are you using?
What RF input are you using?
Can you supply your .ini file so that I can copy it, and apply it to my setup?
Do you still require the Vista PVR app, or have you got it working without it?

Thanks for your help!
Cheers!
