I've just converted an mpeg video to Divx using "DivX Converter", it plays fine with the "DivX Player" but when I try to use my MVP it crashes.

Can my MVP play DivX files or is there something I need to do?

Thanks for any help

When you try to play and divx/xvid file on the MVP it has to convert the file to MPEG2 on the fly since this is the only file type the MVP can natively play. Your 733MHz CPU will be way too slow for this task.

None of the MVPs can natively play divx files. The hardware only plays MPEG1/MPEG2/MP3 files. The Hauppauge software does the same thing as GB-PVR, converting to MPEG2 on the fly when you try to play these types of files.

If you look carefully at the MVP system requirements you'll see the extra CPU requirements for playing divx files:
Quote:PC System Requirements
Microsoft® Windows® XP Home, XP Professional or Windows2000
128MB RAM and 20GB hard disk space (minimum recommended)
Internet Explorer 6.0 or later
Processor: 750MHz or faster. 1.8GHz P4 or faster to play DivX movies.
CD-ROM drive for loading software
