have been using gbpvr without any real issues except things i have been able to solve with forum help (!). i am not 100% sure how to tell what release of the software you are running unless you can find the old install msi or exe...but it appears that I was going to 9813 - the latest - from 9516.

I DID NOT BACK UP ANYTHING - why, because this is not my work, and I am ok with losing what i have.

but I am curious, as I am a software guy. i tried the install once, got the .ax registry problems, read the forum, notice the .NET 2.0 requirement, so upgraded that. Then i rebooted, and it went directly into the 9813 config and install. I loaded my zap2it EPG fresh, brough up the GBPVR UI and it appears that I lost everything...old recordings, recurring, one time, etc.

What was I supposed to do, that I did not, that would cause the reinstall to not see my old settings? any chance before i start rekeying everything, that it is renamed or something?

I think sub switched from MS Access to SQLite between those releases.

Do you have your old gbpvr.mdb file? Did you try running the included ChangeDatabase.exe?

No I did not. Question. What things are in the database, vs. in the XML, etc. Is that documented somewhere?

I did notice the changedatabase.exe and thought it was an optional thing.

I think the database-change is still optional. Something else must have gone wrong, possibly with the late .Net2 install. You might be able to import your recordings in the database again. If you are lucky you might have an 'old' recordingdump.xml in your gbpvr-dir. In config-plugins you can import it. If not you can always add your recordings-dir to the video-archive dirs in config-drectories. You will see your recordings in the videolibrary then.

I think Sub has said in the past that the upgrade procedure makes a new dump of recordings in the root GBPVR directory (this may not be correct)

But that should at least give all of your existing recordings back.

Thanks
