Hi,

Can anyone advise whether or not a Freecom USB DVB-T Receiver (http://www.freecom.com/ecproduct_detail....ID=1146532)
is supported under GB-PVR (providing that BDA drivers are available which is something I'm not 100% certain about) without needing to edit the bda.ini file?.

Realise that there's two seperate entries for a Freeview USB DVB-T Receiver
(Freecom DVB and Freecom DVB Type 2) but not sure whether or not they're referring to Freecom Part No. 25451-rev.3.

Was wondering whether or not one of these DVB-T Receivers can be used in conjunction with a WinTV Nova-T-USB2 for a Twin-Tuner GB-PVR PC. Is this possible?.

Updated: 01:40am 29/11/06. Think that this question might've been answered already Sad.

It is definitely supported and the bda drivers are available on the Freecom drivers pages. If you've installed the non-BDA drivers, the simplest thing to do is to use Freecom's utility that comes with the new drivers to uninstall.

There is at least a third version of this adapter so you may need to add an entry to bda.ini. If you do a search for Freecom on these forums (remembering to go back a month or two) you will find the entry required.

Hi AI,

Thank you for your reply. I'll give the BDA drivers a try.

With regards to configuring a dual-tuner GB-PVR PC can two of the same DVB-T Receivers be used or would I have to use two completely different DVB-T Receivers such as a WinTV Nova-T-USB2 and a Freecom USB DVB-T (both using BDA drivers)?.

Thank you Smile.

As long as the drivers support it, you can use multiple of the same type of device, or mix and match.

Hi Sub,

Thank you for your reply. Much appreciated.

I'm trying to get a Freecom DVB-T to detect channels however an error message say's that the capture device isn't detected or isn't configured properly. I've tried both Freecom DVB and Freecom DVB Type2 (selecting as device number 2 as devide number 1 is a WinTV Nova-T-USB2). Does the bda.ini need to be amended in this instance?.

Thank you Smile.

They would both be device #1. The device number only increments when you have multi devices using the same names. These devices uses different driver names, so the device number is #1 for both of them.

Hi Sub, Thank you for that. Apologies. Thought that the device number increments by one for each seperate tuner that's added. Gone back into config and amended accordingly.

Not sure if anyone else has posted this on the forum (done a quick search and didn't find anything) but here's what I've entered into bda.ini for the Freecom DVB-T USB2 Receiver that I've loaned from my gf (to check whether or not works with GB-PVR):

[Freecom DVB-T USB]
TUNING_TYPE=DVB-T
FILTER_TUNER=USB Digital-TV Receiver
FILTER_CAPTURE=USB Digital-TV Device Capture
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport

Hope this is of some help to others wanting to configure the same device.

Kind Regards :-).

Do you have a "Freecom DVB type3" option in your bda.ini file? I have one in the master file that matches this. You'd probably want to rename yours to match, otherwise you'll need to remember to re-add it at the next release. (changes to bda.ini will not be retain during an upgrade)

Hi Sub, Thank you for your reply. Yes, This one's a Freecom DVB type3 (This is what's written on the label on the DVB-T Receiver itself: Art No. 25451-rev.3).
I'll rename to Freecom DVB type3 in my bda.ini file.

There was only two Freecom DVB-T Receivers in the bda.ini file that I'd downloaded. Please correct me if I am wrong but are you saying that the next version of GB-PVR will have a Freecom DVB type3 included in the bda.ini file?.

Thank you Smile.

P.S. Notice that you've got a Tranquil PC advert in the top right of the GB-PVR forum. Any idea's what Mini-ITX Mainboards they're fitting (or you would recommend is fitted) to their machines that, at a guess are running GB-PVR. The reason why I'm asking is because I've tried two DVB-T Receivers on a M10000 1GHz Nehemiah CPU Mainboard and failed dismally to get smooth playback.

Yes. Someone posted this third variation section a couple of weeks back and I added it to the master file.

The Tranquil PC I'm using actually has a Commell Pentium-M mini-itx board (with 2.0GHz processor).

Yeah, unfortunately the EPIA mini-itx are too slow in my opinion. The recommended minimum spec for GB-PVR is a 1GHz PIII class CPU. These 1GHz Nehemiah CPU are more like a 500Mhz PII processor. You have to make sure you're using a decoder like the Cyberlink one, with hardware assisted decoding enabled, and even then the best you'll get is sluggish performance. (sorry)
