There was one error with the mvp-tray-icon in the logs. You could try disabling that one. Just remove it or rename it.
What kind of files were you trying to watch? Avi's or mpg's?
Avi's and youtube movies have to be transcoded to mpg for the mvp. There were some problems with the transcoding options in config.xml in the latest version. Check the 99.5 sticky in the support forum.

Edit: I'm not sure I did read your last post well. Did you get gbpvr working or the hauppauge sw?

Howdy,
I uninstalled the Hauppauge software and it started working playing videos. Smile Then I had the issue of very crappy looking pictures. I made the change in the config.xml so now thats fixed but now I have to content with ffmpeg.exe maxing out one of the cores on the machine and stuttering playback.

I went from an AMD XP 2000+ which played back video's fine to an AMD X2 4600+ and more than doubled the ram. This is a brand new install so I am having to work through this all from scratch and it's been a while.

I even tried dropping the 2400k value down to 2000k and that did make a difference but it's still stuttering too much to watch a whole 2 hour movie. This is for Divx encoded movies that I ripped from my DVD's and played back fine on the old server in the old version. Any suggestions?

I don't *think* this was the case with the Hauppauge software (at least I don't remember noticing it)...could this be fixable (if not it is hardly a big deal).

I had he same problem and after reading the command line options for ffmpeg, I removed the -f svcd command (couldn't find it listed as a command line option) and replaced it for -aspect 16:9 and all looks fine now.

Anyone have ffmpeg issues with 100% CPU utilization? I just can't figure this out. It worked fine with no issues on a much weaker box. Sad

Actually this is normal and happens for everyone. When you run ffmpeg it consumes all available CPU to try to config the file as quickly as it can.

Any chance that Zprocess would get in the way of an XDVD install (mess with/change related things?) I just posted in plugins support about that not working for me (was step 2 after getting the picture straightened out). If it might complicate XDVD, I will wait to do Zprocess after.

Thanks

I have just recently looked into trying xDVD. It didn't work for me right off, and I gave up for my first attempt.

What I learned though was xDVD uses VLC as a transcoder, and ZProcess uses either ffmpeg or mencoder as it's transcoder.

I do not believe they would interfere. ZProcess will get called from a MVP trying to view a non mpg file in the Video panel, requiring an on-the-fly transcode.

My interpretation of xDVD was that it had it's own file list from which to choose files and DVD to transcode on the fly...

When GB-PVR calls ffmpeg.exe natively, I think it sets ffmpeg in its default mode, which uses the CPU in 'Normal' - This would cause a sense of 'hogging' the CPU...

I think sub has built in several switches in the config.xml that will try to set the CPU priorities...

However, what I've found is that through the use of ZProcess, which basically acts as a go-between for GB-PVR and ffmpeg.exe, (or even mencoder.exe), the transcode can be launched in 'Below Normal' Mode which won't hog the CPU...
