I have been reading through the forum for a while but there is so much information and I am not sure what is causing my problem so dont really know what to search for so please excuse me if the answer to this is already posted elsewhere.

I have the mediamvp box. All working nicely apart from the picture recieved seems to be too big for my TV. The menus are perfect but anything I stream to the box doesnt get shown properly.

I have a Philips 28" CRT TV. I am guessing that about 15% of the pic is offscreen to the left and another 15% to the right. I also seem to be missing a little bit vertically too. The same problem occurs whether the software is set to 4:3 or 16:9. If I change the TV settings the pic is the same but the size just gets modified.

Hope I have explained whats happening.

If anybody has any ideas I would appreciate your help.

Thanks in advance
Richard

The MVP has an internal aspect ratio. Its only settable in the Hauppauge MVP software. If its set to 4:3, then playback of widescreen videos results in the left and right being cropped from the picture. GB-PVR has no control over the aspect ratio or how the video picture is displayed on the MVP.

Hmmm, this could be a problem. I can install the Hauppauge MVP software no problem but as soon as the box connects to my server I get an error "Media MVP GUI Server has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." When I click close the TV just shows me the connecting screen again. As soon as it connects I get the same error. So I cant get to the settings box.

Is there any other way of configuring the box to 16:9 except through the software that keeps crashing?

Thanks.

OK, I installed the Hauppauge software on my laptop and it didnt crash. I modified the MVP box to 16:9 that way.

Now when I reboot it and connect back to the video server I still get the same issue with missing some of the picture as per my first post.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

If you try using the mvpmc dongle I will be able to get a bit more information.

Martin, the only dongle I can choose is dongle.bin. Am I missing something?

Thanks

Have you tried adjusting the MVP output using the MVP Screen Position plugin? I had to do this for both of my MVP's. They just didn't display properly out of the box. You can learn more here: http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Plugi...enPosition
i3-3570k, 8GB RAM, Win10 Pro, Nvidia GT710, HDHomeRun (OTA), NPVR 6.x
On a clear disk, you can seek forever...

I have tried that already. I didnt use the plugin but just modified the values in the config.xml file directly. the MVPwidth and height seem to only adjust the menu system but they make no difference when actually playing video.

I have also tried modifying the horizontal and vertical zoom and their associated offsets but they make no difference either.

I have noticed that the video I was testing on was actually a 4:3 video and it was being cropped. When trying with a widescreen video it is even worse. About 50% of the horizontal video is being cropped with the widescreen compared to about 20-30% with non-widescreen.

Thanks
Richard

The MVPPosition tool doesn't touch video playback just the GBPVR layout.

mvpmc is a separate download, here's the link just follow the first few step on post 1.

Thanks for the link Martin.

I now have the new dongle installed and it works much better than the default one. I now actually have widescreen Smile I see the black bars at the top and bottom of the screen.

However I still have some of the picture being cut of on the left and the right. I would guess that I missing around 10-15% of the picture now. Nowhere near as much as before so we are definatelly moving in the right direction Smile
