I haven't used GBPVR for music playing in a long time and decided to crank it back up (used to work great). Now I get an error when trying to play any mp3. However, I can't see the error message because a "audio player" looking app pops up on the screen and covers up the error message. I've attached the screen shot for your reference. I just upgraded to 99.whatever and live tv, recordings, etc all seem to work fine. Whether I use the built in Music Library plugin or MusicLibrary2 plugin I get the same error. It hangs GBPVR and I have to close the app and restart. Logs are also attached in case they help anyone. Thanks a lot to anyone who can help!!

I actually just found that Reboot had the exact same error a few months ago and posted his screen shot (looks identical to mine) elsewhere on the forums. So I appologize for starting a new thread...but there was no resolution to the problem. Reboot...you still out there? Did you figure out what caused this?

Did I post this in the wrong area? Should it be in plugins support area?

Given it also occurs with the built in Music Library this is probably an appropriate place. I dont know what the cause is though.

All music plays fine through the MVP. Same files play fine on the PC using windows media player. But no go on PC using GBPVR...not too big of a deal as I use MVP for 99.9% of GBPVR usage...but still strange and I'm curious if anyone figures something out.

I still dont know why you'd be getting this problem, but there is a setting called something like <UseWindowsMediaPlayerForAudio> in config.xml that you could set to false, which will probably work around the problem.

This fixed the problem for me. Out of curiousity, what is now playing the music? Since winamp is my default player for mp3, I sort of expected winamp to show up in the task list when I am playing music but it doesn't. Is it now controlled by the audio render option in the config app?

Thanks Sub! Nothing finer than rolling thru a prog art slideshow with an old Yes album playing Smile

GB-PVR is using DirectShow for playing the file (which is the same componentss WMP uses for playing the audio). Playing it this way should be pretty much the same, but you'll be missing the visualizations

Something screwy on your WMP setup was causing this problem, but I dont know what.

I installed winamp, which cured the problem...
