Hello

My computer is as follows:

Pentium D 2.8ghz
2 gigs of ram
150 gig hd in two partitions 20 for OS and 130 for GBPVR
6800 Geforce 256mb
Hauppauge 250
Sound Blaster Live 24bit

So far I have been playing with the following decoders, Purevideo, GPL, and Intervideo.

GPL looks best on my system but purevideo isn't bad either. When either of these codecs is used and then the computer is left watching live tv for about 20 to 30 minutes gbpvr will either crash or crash and I'll get a windows xp blue screen saying an illegal operation was performed which resets my computer.

Every decoder I tries leads to the same results though some decoder and audio codecs will bring it about sooner then others. Any info on how to stop this would be greatly appreciated, I'm running the latest drivers for everything.

My hunch would be overheating.

Have you tweaked the fan speed on the 6800 to stop it sounding like a hairdryer?

Maybe try leaving the case/lid off for a short while whilst you are watching live tv to see if that helps at all.

I've tried with case side off and with windows open etc. Its not that hot where I'm at so I don't think its overheating. Especially since changing codecs can cause the problem to occur much faster. For example if I try with the FFDSHOW codec there will be an illegal operation within 3 minutes, but with the intervideo or mpeg audio codec it won't occur for 30 minutes. This is a very repeatable error for me.

Does it create a file in c:\windows\minidump when this occurs?

Sorry I can't find any such file. But now I think I have larger problems. I can't even get Windows to load now which leads me to believe that it wasn't gb-pvr that was causing the problem, probably just bringing it to the surface. Thanks for the help though.
