GB-PVR Client not starting

I'm having a small problem with my client: it won't start in client mode. Whenever I try to start the client, it will show the splash screen for a little bit (2-3 seconds the first time I try; a split-second thereafter), and it just quits.

I've tried it in both streaming and file-sharing mode, I tried turning off the firewall on the server, and I've tried stopping the recording service on the client. None of it worked.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

The most common thing is user fails to enter the correct server name, or tries to put "\\" at the start of the server name, or failed to share the GB-PVR directory on the server.

Here are the logs from the client (logs.zip) and the server (logs_server.zip).

Also, I have Acce$$ 2003 installed on both machines, and they are both running the same version of GB-PVR.

This error message from the logs should get you started:

1/28/2007 7:29:47 PM.625 ERROR [1] System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path '\\imadia\gbpvr_db\config.xml' is denied.

Do the services on the server have to be stopped for it to work?

No.

According to that error message I showed above, you either havnt setup the share correctly on the server, so GB-PVR on the client is unable to open the config file on the server at '\\imadia\gbpvr_db\config.xml'. It looks like its the permissions of the share.

Works now!

The files 'config.xml' and 'gbpvr.db3' were not accessible by the user "Everyone". I was using XP Home on the server, so I used the instructions at http://www.dougknox.com/xp/tips/xp_home_sectab.htm to enable the security tab. I checked, and added change permissions, and voila! Thanks!
