Can the my music button be programmed to open ML2 instead of the regular music panel?

Yeah, change this line in config.xml
<DefaultPluginMusic>Music Library</DefaultPluginMusic>
to
<DefaultPluginMusic>Music Library2</DefaultPluginMusic>
