Building a htpc i initially expected to use a mainboard with integrated graphics for the display this appeared optimal solution for power/heat/noise requirement of an ideal htpc
Needless to say i was "gobsmacked" to find that none of the drivers(intel) appear to support the 1366x768 res of my lcd tv panel.
even more surprising was the fact that it appears the largest bulk of lcd tvs in the uk appear to use this reolution???.
WTH is goin on INTEL?,,,anyone know if any other onboard graphics chipsets will do this? (such as via(s3) etc.)
I did hear that someone had written a custom binary for the intels but it was linux
any ideas opinions????

You might be able to get it going with powerstrip?

It might be worth a look at widescreengamingforum.com... even though you're not looking to play games, it might help you with driver setup.

The thing is that many time those resolutions are not documented as supported, (I guess as there can be too many combinations). Most of the video cards do support however plug-n-play. This can work with VGA or DVI.
When you plug those lines, new possible resolutions magically appear. This is how it works for me. Might need to reboot with cable connected, donno.

How do you connect your display to TV?
* Rogers Analog Cable [Canada]
* Hauppauge WintTV PVR USB2
* IBM Thinkpad T42 / 1GB Mem / Centrino 1.6Ghz / 60GB HD / ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 + VGA/DVI out
* MCE Remote + Keyboard
* Win XP SP2 / GBPVR [Latest version. always]
* Pioneer HDTV via VGA (1360x768)
* MS Remote Keyboard
* Logitech Harmony 880 [via MS Remote Control Reciever]

You might be onto something with that thought on the device needing to be hooked up at boot time.

It seems unlikely that any relatively new graphic chip wouldn't be set-up to handle a wide screen LCD.
