hvr-1600 hdtv recording and playback

My problem is that with the hvr-1600, I can either get it to default to the astc tuner when I click watch a show but then it will record on the analog side by default even if I am not using the astc side at the moment. If I change the order of the capture source then it will record astc by default but will default on analog when I press watch a show. How can i get it to default to watch astc and default record astc if I a not using astc at that moment? Thanks.

You should be able to do this if your digital channels are named differently than the analog channels. For example, where I live, when I go to zap2it to setup the channel lineup, the digital channels have a "DT" at the end of their name. Then when you record stuff, you select the digital channel from your tvguide. Since this channel is only available on your digital tuner, gvpvr will schedule it for that tuner.

tlewis58, I understand your problem. I spent too many hours trying to work around the issue of the GB guide not displaying the digital and analog channels differently.
What I did is use the wiki logo tool to change the logo's for the digital channels.
They now will aleast be displayed differently in the GB guide.

I bet there is an easier way, but that is all I could come up with.

If the TV guide is not displaying the full channel name, it is because it doesn't have the space for it. One easy fix would be to reduce the font size for the channel names:
1. Browse to your skin folder's tv guide subfolder. I am using the nuoro skin, so my folder is: C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\skin\nuoro\tv guide.
2. Edit skin.xml file and change the "size" for this line:
<TextStyle name="ChannelNames" color="White" typeFace="Segoe UI" size="10" style="regular"/>

Mine was 17 and I changed it to 10. If you are using MVP, then you will need further customization in the skin file to not to make the font too small.
