I just found several of these errors in GBPVR.exe-native-2.log.

2007-03-25 17:40:39.859 ERROR m_pD3DDev->Present(0, 0, 0, 0) failed
Error code : 88760868
D3DERR_DEVICELOST
Device lost

I'm guess that this means that it can;t find the nova-t 500 tuner any more. Is this correct Sub?

I meant that the family recording that I had scheduled failed so I just lost 300 points on the WAF.

What are the chances of implementing a feature request to reboot on encountering this error, configured via a config.xml setting?

Its actually saying the user interface lost access to the video card for displaying the menus or video frames using Direct3D. This is a playback thing though, and wont be the cause of any problems recording (whic happens in a different process, and doesnt use Direct3D).

This specific error would be shown in the logs in many situations, like when you press Windows-L, or in FSE mode and switch to another app.

ah ok Sub thanks. that'll be related to the occasional error I get when the video card does not appear to initialise when coming out of standy and I get a window saying "VMR custom renderer not supported".

I just noticed in event viewer this error occurred when the system came out of standby to record the show.

Windows cannot impersonate the user. (The handle is invalid. ). Group Policy processing aborted.

A quick google refers to this update from microsoft for the "User Profile Hive Cleanup Service", released this month. Not sure if this really is the fix but I'll give it a go...

thanks Sub
