Hi,
So I'm fairly new to GB-PVR. I have it basically all set up and configured. Now I would like to use my Dell Remote which came with my Inspiron 600m.
Pics of the remote can be found at:
http://picasaweb.google.com/adityaag86/D...NGvKsRO604

From the looks of it, it seems like it's exactly like version 2a of the MCE remote except for the fact that it doesn't have a TV power button and a few differently labeled buttons.

The remote controls all basic functionality of GB-PVR fine currently. I can play, use the arrows, blah blah.

Now I tried to use HIP to customize some of the features of the remote, however, first problems came in that I couldn't use the MCE drivers. I'm 99% sure this is just a rebadged MCE remote so I'm not quite sure why. I couldn't really locate it easy in my Device Manager...

I could get the remote to pick up a few of the remotes using just the General Input option for HIP, but I would like to use the MCE plugin. Anyone have suggestions here?

I guess before I spend too much time, the customizations I want to do:
Power key => Start and Exit GB-PVR (not standby the computer)
Pictures, Music, DVD, Videos keys => Map to respective place in GB-PVR.

Are these customizations possible to do? Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

As far as the customizations you want to do the answer would be yes. You should be able to achieve this if you can get HIP working with it. I use the hauppauge mce remote that came with my pvr150mce and the device buttons (Pictures, Music, DVD, Videos keys ) do work as shortcuts to the respective places in GB-PVR.

Did those keys MAP automatically for you to the correct places? I guess the main problem I'm having is locating the USB device for my IR receiver in the device manager and updating it's drivers as the GBPVR and HIP docs say to do. Any advice on what I should be looking for in the Device Manager. I tried a few of the USB devices and none of them "were the right device for the drivers".

Mine was loacted in the Universal Serial Bus Controllers section and I believe was called eHome or something like that. I just followed this guide http://www.byremote.com.au/Hip/mce_remote_faq.htm which is referenced in the WIKI for gbpvr-hip setup.

No I think I had to map each to its keyboard shortcut. Here is the link to the keyboard reference http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Manua...dReference. It basically goes like this
TV Guide F1 Guide button
Live TV F2 TV button
Videos F3 Videos button
Music F4 Music button
If I remember correctly that was all I had to do.

I followed that guide too but I unfortunately couldn't find my receiver listed uner the Universal Serial Bus Controllers section with any obvious name. All I see is the following:
- Strandard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller
- Strandard OpenCD USB Host Controller
- USB Composite Device
- USB Composite Device
- USB Root Hub
- USB Root Hub

I tried both of the Composite Devices and neither of them seemed to work right.
