getting gbpvr to connect to wired mvp w/ crossover cable

I just bought a wired mvp and open the package. I plug everything into the right spot, including putting a belkin crossover cable (yes, it's a crossover cable and has it written on the cable) between laptop and mvp. However, the mvp won't connect. On the little network symbol on taskbar, it says: "limited connection". On the tv, it says: "No streaming server found! Please check your network settings and make sure server is running.". I start gbpvr but I don't see any gbpvr on the tv. This computer is connected to internet by dialup..so no router. I did enable Internet connection sharing. On the ICS properties, there's like a dozen MVP boxes which I checked. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

I never done this myself, so cant really provide much advice.

A crossover cable should work though, assuming ICS is acting as a DHCP server, which I think it does.

Ok...solved...i finally got it working.

-Hooked up all the cables
-Set IP address as fixed
-Just check the two buttons in ICS tab but DON'T mess around w/ SETTINGS tab.
-Disabled windows firewall for that network card.
-Stop the MVP service turn the MVP unit on/off to allow it to boot to gbpvr service.
