For some reason, I can get the mvp to work w/ huappage software, but not gbpvr. i.e. if i disable huappage services, i won't be able to connect to server w/ gbpvr running. I'd have to enable the huappage service first as well as run the gbpvr media server. I read somehwere that tftpd32 may be needed to dynamically allocate ip numbers when using a crossover cable, since gbpvr can't do it while hauppage can. anyone got a screenshot of their tftpd32 settings? thanks.

If you set up windows internet connection sharing this will set up a dhcp server for you, which the mvp will contact through your cross-over cable to obtain its ip address

the mvp will then look for a server which is hosting a [gbpvr/hauppauge] service and download the dongle when it finds one

I have always used this method and it works well

so u don't need tftpd32 if u have ICS set up? How do u set up ICS? can u post some detailed instructions? If I clicked to allow ICS and didn't change anything else, it'd be low/limited connection. If I clicked to allow ICS and I changed to fixed IP address, then I'd get a normal connection, but mvp would work only w/ the hauppage services running.

The Happuuge software contains a dhcp server which GBPVR doesn't. If the mvp is connected directly to the GBPVR server then a dhcp server will need to be running.
I didn't try Windows ICS for dhcp, instead I use tftpd32. See the screen shots for setup, its quite simple. Just remember that Tftpd32 can perform all sorts of functions so turn off everything you don't need to avoid clashes.
