Minimum Required Windows Media Player?

Hello,

I recently updated my windows media player to version 9. Over the past year or so, each time I have upgraded media player, GBPVR seems to get less reliable during playback. Currently, I am running a P3 933 chip, so I already am pushing it and need to upgrade. But until then, is there an older version of Media player I can use to help remedy this?

Its probably not related to the version of Windows Media Player, but more decoders and codecs that have been added to your machine over time.

Do you uninstall media player first? The media player classic is a standalone - how do you get that to work with GBPVR while the other media player is still installed?

Microsoft makes it very very hard to go back to previous versions. If you can remove it from Add/Remove programs (click Show Updates), that's the only way to remove it. If you try to run an old installer on a system with a never version, it will exit saying there is already a newer version and won't go any further.

Not sure what tipstir means by too much calling home. I only see it calling home to check for updates. Alot of software does this. I won't use WMP11 because it installs its own drivers for my portable media players. Even f I'm using the software that came with the media player, Windows Media Player was still handling the copying. The only reason I haven't jumped the WMP10 ship is because the SRS WOW effects sound great on my 5.1 & Audigy card.
