I know it is for windows only. I was thinking about trying out myth tv... Is that bad to say in the gbpvr forums? ;P

It is still strange that after trying so many things, beyondtv works great but gbpvr stutters.

The bitrates for high, medium and low quality, as well as Live TV are defined in the direct.ini file.

I'm not suggesting turning the bitrate to it's lowest, I'm suggesting comparing the bitrate of your Beyond TV recordings or Live TV to the GBPVR recordings and Live TV, to make sure you're not comparing apples to oranges.

Alternatively, just playback a Beyond TV recording with GBPVR, or visa versa. That should tell you whether it's a playback issue between the two.

And as others have said, with your setup you want to make sure you're in overlay mode. VMR mode will definitely cause playback issues on a low-spec PC.

Anyway, good luck.

What I have tried:

1. Every bit rate available in gbpvr using the different resolutions available.
2. Different mpeg2 encoders
3. VMR9,7 and overlay.

Also, Wintv2000 works really well too, no stutter whatsoever and only about 36% CPU usage.

Is there some issue with my video card? its an ati IGP 320m... but again, no problems with beyondtv or wintv2000.

Not at all, however if you think setting up gbpvr is problematic, mythtv is complete PITA!

As wtg suggests can you confirm that recordings made with GBPVR will play back ok using other software (beyond, wintv or windows media player)? If this playback is ok I would look at changing your decoder - what do you have available to select in the config app?

On that system it is probably the directx9 bug. Search the forums for quartz.dll, there is a fix for it.
system 1 - PVR-250 and HVR-1600

system 2 - PVR-150 and HVR-1600

Replaced it already... so that doesn't seem to be the problem. I am currently installing mythdora... just to try it out. When it doesnt work I will answer some of your questions regarding which decoders are available. However, the decoders that "work" are the standard ones that are installed. Installing other decoders (from other pvr software) just gives errors.
