For those of you having problems with getting the screensaver kicking in, can you post to say whether you are using FSE? My theory is that it's that renderer which is causing the problem but if we can confirm this it might help sub if he gets a chance to look at this issue again.

I'm not on FSE and yet still have the problem. But I have bigger issues that my machine stop responding on the "Preparing to Hibernate" screen. So I might have to shelve my plans.

have any of you guys tried the MCR standby tool that kiwikid posted (#9) here recently

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=32594

It looks very interesting. I'd never heard of it before - no idea how I missed that.

I've not tried it myself as hibernator is working more of less ok for me atm.

There have been quite a lot of standby & hibernate posts here recently. Perhaps it might be an idea to have a sticky for this topic.

I've just put it down on mine to help diagnose why mine is hanging when going to standby or hibernate (seems to only be the second time it tries to hibernate - and without nero there doesn't seem to be any doco -http://support.microsoft.com/kb/331506 )

So here goes.... Other than that hibernator was working for me (with pvrxr shut down when not in use). It was asking for a hibernation or standby, but something in my xp system was hanging...
