hi folks. hope you can help me. i did some searching, here in the forum and also on google, and came up pretty empty.

what i am wanting to do is watch 4+ channels simultaneously. not so much picture in picture, but where each channel would have its own window/viewing area. can gbpvr do it? if not, does anyone know of a program that can. it doesnt need to be free.

any help would be awesome, thanks

You might be able to with GB-PVR, when using the VMR9 renderer, but you'd need to run four instances of GB-PVR and have four tuners. Changing channels would be a bit of a hassle, since only the instance with focus will change channels.

Its not something I've ever tried.

Any idea how to get more than one instance of GB-PVR running? When I try to start a second it only sends focus to the existing one.

It's the forum software, it has been doing things like that before.
AMD Athlon 64 3000, HDD: 80, 120, 200 GB, Hauppauge 350 + 150, MVP, Asus 6000L Laptop client, Asus X50sl client,
Fritz!box 7140 modem/router, GBPVR 1.3.7.

Well it works. On a client as well. Three tuners on live TV.

One slight problem, if the client crashes then the three tuners are still showing as being used and I had to restart recording service on the server to free them up.

This will increase bragging rights with the guy up the road!

It'd time the client out in about thirty seconds or so, freeing the tuner up.

Thanks for that, I started panicking too soon then :o I kept the question away from support as I don't expect support when I am "doing stupid things" .

Hmmm 10 minutes and a reboot of the client still has two tuners being used and the mpg files in the buffer directory increasing in size.

Things are a bit chaotic here with visitors, but in the morning, I'll do a clean start with empty logs and attach them.
