Hi, I originally posted this in the MusicLibrary2 support forum as I thought it might be a problem with the plugin. So apologies if you get to read this twice!

I have recently built a HTPC running WinXP/SP2 and GB-PVR, and with a Hauppauge PVR-150MCE (with the MCE-like USB remote). Pretty much everything in HTPC and in GB-PVR is working the way it should, which is excellent.

The Hauppauge MCE remote also works as I'd expect it to most of the time, but I'm having some trouble with certain buttons in some plugins.

For example, in MusicLibrary or MusicLibrary2, the Skip Fwd / Back buttons go to the end / beginning of the list of tracks, rather than Next / Previous track.

In ML2, if I press the Green button, it briefly displays the Playlist screen but immediately flicks back to the main ML2 screen. If I press it often enough, eventually it may go to the Playlist screen, but the currently playing track starts playing at double speed (same pitch though). Then the problem is reversed and I can't get back to the main screen.

If I use a keyboard (e.g. Ctrl-right, Ctrl-left, Gtrl-G), the functions work fine.

In Config I've applied the fix for the Hauppauge 45-key remote, and checked that the remote keys are correctly mapped to the right keystrokes in IRemote.ini. IR.EXE is running too.

What it looks like is that a single press of some remote buttons is sending multiple equivalent keystrokes to GBPVR, or something like that, e.g. pressing the green button sends more than one Ctrl-G to GBPVR.

Haven't been able to find anything searching the forums, and it's been suggested that I install HIP and use that for the remote instead. Before I step into the next level of complexity, given that the remote seems to be working fine in most other respects, has anyone else had similar problems and found an easy fix?

Thanks,

Jon.

For anyone with a PVR-150MCE remote who is having similar problems (i.e. some buttons don't work, or give multiple presses in GBPVR plugins).

It seems that the PVR150MCE remote (and ir.exe software) may send two presses for some buttons; I think for "mapped" buttons it sends both the scan code AND the keyboard equivalent. This appears to be by design though I'm not quite sure why. Using the keyboard shortcuts always works properly.

By hacking around with irremote.ini (e.g. commenting out the button mappings under [MSMCERCV], and/or the button commands under [GBPVR]) I did manage to get it to work (almost) properly.

But there does seem to be some inconsistency in the Hauppauge MCE mapping, and how these are interpreted. Also I found it impossible to map "special" buttons like the MCE or Power buttons - they seem to send a different code from the "mappable" buttons.

Anyway, after a fairly long and fruitless time of wonder with IR.EXE and irremote.ini, I installed HIP (with the replacement MCE drivers), removed all default HIP button mappings for the MCE remote and re-added them with the correct GBPVR keyboard codes (as per the wiki manual), and removed IR.EXE from startup.

It all works like a charm now including being able to map the special buttons so I've got the Power button to start and stop GBPVR, the MCE button to toggle the aspect ratio (very useful), the Mute button to act like Pause, and the MY TV button to toggle between full-screen and windowed mode.

I'd recommend HIP as the way to go for the Hauppauge MCE remote. Thanks to the author of the HIP guide for GBPVR on the wiki.
