hmm, 2Gb or 4Gb. I can never remember. One is the avi file limit and the other is the file system limit.

Ah, google says 4Gb for fat32. So if you are capturing at an average bit rate of 6k you are probably hitting that mark after an hour.

Well someone can do the maths, but for high res/high quality recording 4Gb will cause problems.

Colin.

I haven't looked at the file size. But the drive is NTFS, so the FAT limit shouldn't be involved. I'll have a look tonight whether I deleted the file or not, and if not what its size is.

-LD: the first seconds after a channel change, the video is a bit choppy for me too. This disappears within 10 seconds or so. Then it's very smooth.

I Looked at the filesize this weekend: 3.359.452 KB
When I tried playing it, the first seconds were allright, then it just stopped playing and went back to the gbpvr screen. Also, when skipping, the time bar of the OSD extende far to the right.

As for the shutdown from within GBPVR I now hacked a solution:
create a batch file "off" with the command "shutdown -s -t 50 -c "Turning off. To abort double click on NotOff on the desktop"."
create a batch file "NotOff" with the command "shutdown -a" and create a shortcut to it on the desktop.
In GBPVR configuration add the menu item "Off!" that points to the batchfile "off".

This works neat. --edit-- It is only not seen on the TV-Out of the pvr 350. BUT when I initiate the off-process, the desktop is visible on the pvr tv-out for a fraction of a second! Then the gbpvr menu reappears --/edit--
However, I do not know whether GBPVR likes to be shutdown this way. Sub?

Actually, the limit on Fat32 is not 4GB. The limit on fiile sizes in the os is 2gb. Anything beyond that will not work properly. And to get around the 32gb format problem, you have to format in another OS or use a utility. You can use it if it's already formatted in Fat32 though, and up to 8 terrabytes.

oh, yeah, here's a source on that. http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treevie...l_tdrn.asp

mikejaner limit on FAT32 is to 4GB maximum file size but min applications just can't read file past 2GB must due there old out date 16bit code which was very comm problem even with some applications under Windows2000/XP even with disk format as NTFS
FAT
Maximum volume size 16MB
Maximum file size 16MB
FAT16 or VFAT
Maximum volume size 2GB
Maximum file size 2GB
FAT32
Maximum volume size 32GB
Maximum file size 4GB
NTFS
Maximum volume size 2TB but keep in mind that 32BIT LBA Disk can only go 137GB nobody know for sure how far 48BIT LBA going take us for sure ther eonly guesting it for all we know we my need get 64BIT LBA disk  or more in order to get to 1TB mark one disk.
Maximum file size 2TB

Other major problem are bios limitations in order format a big disc.
Only fool would choose FAT32 past 32GB bcecuase you be Wasted Space way more the 25% going any higher that.
