Hi,

I have my own PVR software which calls gbrecord.exe version 0.91. It has been working fine on my PVR-500 dual capture card. Now I want HD! So I have ordered a HVR-1600. I also thought I should upgrade to the latest version of gbrecord, so I came here and installed version 1.08. But, there is no gbrecord.exe in this installation, and gb-pvr appears to be a complete pvr application.

Is there a simple command line program I can still call, which supports the HVR-1600? I am currently using command lines like:

gbrecord.exe -limit:<seconds> -startr:filename -c<channel>

OK; is there any way I can use gb-pvr or something similar to do command line recordings from the HVR-1600?

Sorry, there is nothing build into GB-PVR that would do this. It can obviously do recordings, but these are all done via the recording service and need to be scheduled. If you're a developer you could create a command line utility to schedule a recording (even if it was to start immediately and run for X minutes).

I am a developer. What communications mechanism does gb-pvr support, and where can I find more documentation about that? In my program (C++/TCL based) I want the recording to start now, on a specific tuner (PVR500 has two), on a specific channel, and last a certain number of seconds. Today I just spawn off a gbrecord with the appropriate command line options. But if I can make some interprocess communication call to accomplish the same goal, that would work too.

You'd probably need to write the utility using a .NET language, so C#, VB.NET or managed C++. You'd need to add a referrence to GBPVRBackendCommon.dll.

In your code call something like:

ScheduleHelper.getInstance().SheduleRecording(....)

Any chance there is a socket-like interface I can just send a command to?

Are the API calls like ScheduleRecording documented somewhere?

There is no socket interface as such, but you could fake a call to the built in web server's schedule manual recording screen.

Hm, sending a form to the manual recording page might work. But, the page doesn't appear to have any way to select which tuner to use, in the case of a three tuner system. (This may be because I haven't configured gbpvr all the way, although I have brought up the web server.)

I'll look around to see if there is some other command line app, rather than using a whole PVR system just to do a recording. If anybody has any suggestions, that'd be great.

Ah, good point. GB-PVR doesnt let you specify which tuner will be used for the recording.

Yeah, you'd probably be better off finding some other app.
