Hauppauge IR Remote hangs.

I have HVR 1600 74021 tuner, and from time to time IR remote stops responding,
the moment I connect the USB Keyboard and press a couple of button the IR remote also starts working. I am using Hauppauge's IR.exe tool. Maybe there are alternative ways to montor the remote? In the config I also tried the option to connect directly to Hauppauge remote, but that didn't make any difference whatsoever.
