I was testing a custom task and fired up the X2 interface and noticed it's not there. It shows us in the older gbpvr but not the newer X2

Is that a bug I just found or are custom tasks going to be dropped from the newer X2 interface?

They will come back, but its not one of the initial release things. So they don't work in X2 yet.

i have theory for a temporary workaround i will try this weekend.

1. create a folder, and put batchfiles for your custom tasks in there, but rename the files from .bat to .mpg. for example, i have .bat for a vlc session that downloads/transcodes a daily webcast i like to watch on the mvp. i had a custom task to launch it before. the renaming is done so the file shows up in the video library.

2. edit the gbpvr xml config file to add new transcoding option, one would actually just be the command shell (cmd.exe) with the flag to run the file on the command-line (/C i think).

3. then from video library, navigate to your batchfile, and hit transcode, selecting the commandshell option you added. in theory, the commandshell should launch, and execute the batchfile. maybe need some tweaking given that the extension will be .mpg on your batchfile...

anyone have thoughts on this?

now that's a really dirty hack. if it fails try another one in the same direction: get autoit, make a skript to lauch your app/batch & ignore the selected mpg which is forwarded as an option to the script, that way you avoid messing up the file extensions Wink
