GB-PVR Upgrade Guide?

Greetings all! I'm currently running GB-PVR v0.99.5. I came out to the site recently to get some info regarding zap2it being shut down, and I noticed that a new version of the PVR software is out, 1.0.16. Some of the features look pretty cool, especially the new UI.

The version I'm running is the only version I have ever had before, and I've never upgraded before. I've looked on these forums and the wiki, but I can't seem to find any info about upgrading from 0.99.5 to 1.0.16. Am I going to have to re-configure my tuner card in the new version? Will I have to change anything for my remote to work in the new UI? Do I just run the new installer over the top of the old one? Are there any files I need to be sure to back up before I start? Those are a few of the main questions I have.

Does anyone have a link to any upgrading info? The search function here doesn't seem to be working right now, so any info you can provide will be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

If you follow the instructions exactly, you will likely not have any problems. First, you must read all of http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=28626 From the support page, it seems that one of the main problems occurs when you don't load Microsoft runtime first. Yes, back everything up, including "export recordings" from the config panel. I didn't need to use the backups but Sub always recommends it anyway.

You don't need to do anything to your tuner card (because I wouldn't know where to even find mine!). If you have modified your remote (I use the Hauppaugge remote that is governed by irremote.ini), you will likely need to make changes to use your special featuress on the new pvrx2 version but I haven't done that yet. The remote works but I can't use it to "regain focus" as I did in the older version.

To install, you just download the new version over the old one and the installer takes out anything that should be deleted. There are some posts discussing "legacy" plugins which are the plugins that only work on the old version. One extra feature for now is that you can upgrade but still use the old version with your old plugins (you will have 2 executables: gbpvr which accesses the last version before 1.0.08 but with some bugs fixed and pvrx2 which is the new version).
