I seem to be having a problem - whenever I schedule a series recording that has daily episodes, it get the blue screen with the connecting to server message - I eventually get back to the main screen.

I noticed that when I schedule these on the server directly, PVRX2 hangs for a long time before coming back.

I wonder if the recording service is taking extended resources setting up all the recordings that it stops responding to the MVP's until they are all set up.

Anyone else have this issue?

Reproduce the problem, then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

I recreated & have the log file zipped, but keep getting a database error when I attempt to upload so I'll have to repost later.

The time this occured (mainly because I'll forget if I don't post it now) was 2007/09/14 18:10. Created series recording of "How It's Made".

I'll try to upload the attachment tonight.

I guess it was just to much - anyway, here's a zip of the MVP-PVRX2 logs & the recording service logs. Let me know if theirs anything else you need.

Just a note for Sub: The show "How It's Made" is shown several times each day on the Discovery Channel in the US. I just checked the GBPVR search and the show is scheduled to be on 42 times, just between 9/17 and 9/24. Perhaps the high number of shows to be scheduled is the source of philly_phenom's crash?

I assumed that to be the case - I encounter it most often when scheduling shows the kids like (since they are often on at least once a day). The recordings get scheduled, so it's not an enormous issue - especially since I have most of my recordings set up.

I did try it because you did have an interesting crash that I've never seen before. I do see the mvp trying to reetablish connection in the same log without the normal socket disconnects.

Code:
2007-09-14 18:10:10.921    VERBOSE    [3]    Received MVP Service Locator request

In any case, I did do a test with mvpmc and the twenty plus showings of "How It's Made" in my guide were selected fine, with not even a noticeable difference in speed over one recording, so it may not be the number of showings.

It may just be taking too long. The Hauppauge MVP dongle expects a response within about 8 seconds, or will disconnect. You could try the mvpmc dongle which doesnt have this limitation.

thanks to all who responded - I'll give the mvpmc dongle a shot.

I'm getting this also FYI. I'm using the Haup Dongle as far as I know. I will try the other when I have a chance.

Not a big deal for me but I thought I might provide some more info. [oh well, it won't let me attach my logs]

Cheers
