Hey I was informed that this program will run for my hauppouge 250, I downloaded 1.008 and messed around with it! but cant seam to find out how to play my videos it keeps on telling me something about EPG, but I just want to watch straight video and record it? any one know how to get there vcr or dvd play to play through this program?

Its not really the best sort of application for that task. You might be better off using the Hauppauge WinTV app. GB-PVR is really focused around the EPG and recording shows etc.

You can kind of do it by creating a capture source, setting the EPG to 'none' then manually adding a channel called something like 'svideo'. This will then show up as a channel in live tv.

If you have a DVD drive in your computer, you can likely play back DVD's with PVRX2. You will need an Mpeg decoder. What are you trying to do with the VCR? You could capture the svideo input from the VCR and display it, by why wouldn't you plug the VCR into the TV directly?

well the reason for this hole thing is to put a VHF tape home movies of mine, onto my computer!!! the tape player is a combo dvd player with it! as long as I get some video to produce and record I will be happy!

Yep, for that sort of one off job I'd definitely recommend using something like WinTV rather then GB-PVR.
