I have this tuner and have had plenty of problems with it. I think the picture quality is just fine, but what seems to happen sometimes randomly but usually after a wake-up from hibernate or standby, the device is no longer recognized (which means that the remote won't work either).

The way to get it to work again is either to reset or to unplug and replug it, and then usually the computer will re-recognize it.

I have a second tuner (PVR-150) which works just fine... Is this not a good tuner? Anyone know of a fix? If it's kind of flawed, do you have any suggestions for USB tuners (since I don't have any more slots left in my computer)

Thanks for the help!

My memory is extremely fuzzy on this since it's been over a year since I've used my USB PVR2. That being said, I thought I read somewhere that disabling the USB Power Management option resolved this issue for some people. Of course, hibernating your PC is always a crap shoot (one reason why I never used it) so YMMV with this work around.

might wanna try different drivers...the wake up asks the driver to wake the card, but they can have problems doing so on short notice, so many drivers have problems and they usually have fixes for suspend modes in every new release..
so try different drivers for cap card and look at notes on which works best with suspend/hibernate modes..

Trouble is, updating the drivers for this model usually screws up its capture quality. At least, that was my experience. I had to dig through several rebuilds and driver versions before I found a driver that worked to my satisfaction. That's the one downside to the USB PVR2.

Somewhere on here, someone posted a wake.cmd script that either stopped and started or unloaded and loaded a USB device to ensure it was awake when his system came out of standby. I guess a search on wake.cmd might find it.
Here's a snippet of what was in it (I used it for a time).

Quote:extract from my wake.cmd

IF ERRORLEVEL 0 GOTO EVOK

IF ERRORLEVEL 2 GOTO FAILURE
IF ERRORLEVEL 1 GOTO REBOOT
IF ERRORLEVEL 0 GOTO SUCCES

How do you get a list of the USB device ID's, like the "USB\VID_2040" above?

Make sure you have devcon (can't remember where I got it from - easily available) and then
devcon help gives it's list of commands.
devcon find * lists all devices I think.

I've got devcon, and I'm trying to figure out how to get it to reconnect my flash mp3 drive/player without physically unplugging it. Sometimes, it seems to disconnect, from the pc's "point of view", but the player still shows that it is connected. And, it will sometimes "think" it's still connected when it's physically unplugged, and then I have to pull the batteries and let it sit for a while before plugging in again.

Check if you have installed the latest driver correctly.
