can you change the database accessing it from the client
double check the permissions on the gbpvr folder you must have read and write permissions on the folder

I have on THIS folder FULL ACCESS.

Yep, without any problems. But i can't set any recording from the clients. On the server itself that's not the problem. It looks like as would the database "refuse" the connection attempt from the clients and i don't know why it should.
The Useraccounts of the Clients are known at server. They have many rights on the gb-pvr folder (like me as user of the server), only the video library folders have restricted access (i don't want that anyone deletes anything).

The folders are shared, including the database and the gb-pvr folder.

Firewall is disabled on all 3 machines.

the only way i can get it to do what you are getting
ie i can play files but i can delete them is by un making the gbpvr folder read only without permissions
as soon as i reshare the folder and allow all files inside the "gbpvr" folder to be changed by users the problem goes away
so im sorry im sticking to the reason been there is something stopping you been able to acces that folder and all files inside

only thing i can think of is unsharing the gbpvr folder then re sharing it in the hope that it picks up the folder/file with the bad share on it

Try edit the file permissions on the gbpvr.db3 file and make sure it specifically has all users full control or something like that. (ie file level permissions rather than share level permissions)

I checked this more than 4 times. I even added all thinkable people and users and gave them full access -> no success.

Unfortunately the logs dont give any extra clues. From the error message though, it definitely seems to be because either the share or file permissions have limited the client machine to read only access. I'm not sure which though

I'm not sure whats different about your setup compared to everyone elses though. Sorry.

Are you using WinXP "simple file sharing"? I got bit by a problem with this recently, and the solution was to copy the affected files (in your case, the database file at least) to another location on the same drive, and then copy them back to the original location. This removes the security settings on the individual files, that setting by hand was supposed to fix (but obviously didn't). Moving the files to another drive will not fix the problem.

In my case, the affected file was the config.xml, which the client needed to read in order to initialize itself. All the permissions looked good, and I even went into safe mode in order to fiddle the security settings, to no avail.
