Hi, Newbie, here.

Have just got GBPVR (1.1.5) up and running, plenty of tinkering to do, but it all seems to be up and running ok - can watch, record, playback etc. with no problem

However, I've also tried setting up a client on another pc, and have a problem with video playback of recoded shows. It is very jerky, will play ok for few seconds, then pause, then play again ok, then pause etc.

The files are MPEG2 files created by GBPVR, using the Cyberlink 5.0.0.1307 mux.

I can play them back fine on the same PC using WMP11 or VLC.

(Streamed TV is also an issue on the client- totally unusable, but I'll leave that issue for now)

OK, PC spec isn't great (it's mostly used by the kids), but I've not had any video issues before

1 GHz P3, 512MB RAM, Matrox G400 16MB video card, 100MB/s Ethernet.

I'm going to try swopping out the video card for a newer one from another machine, once I get the time. But any other suggestions would be helpful

Thanks

Maybe try more memory, too - my hardware specs are all below. I also had to change the video renderer on my client machine to resolve some stuttering/tearing issues I had. I can check which MPEG renderer I use when I get home tonight if you'd like to know.

I suspect your client hardware is not up to the latest version of pvrx2... Have you tried running GBPVR from Start/Programs/GBPVR instead of PVRX2 from the systray icon? PVRX2 is the latest version - GBPVR is a sort of 'legacy' version to give users time to convert. There are some GBPVR specific settings in config which may allow you to reduce the demand on your hardware. Also be aware that playback settings like video and audio codecs are likely to be different on your client from your server - and try to avoid leaving the client settings as 'default'... Hope this helps

Sorry for the delayed reply, life got in the way.

I'd forgot about running GBPVR. That did indeed playback recorded programs mostly ok. Though live TV was totally unwatchable.

I'll play around with settings, I've got another 256 MB of RAM on the way, and swop the video card for bit of a newer one, see how we go.

Wondering what a minimum spec for a client would be?

Is your client set up for streaming or filesharing? I suspect that the 'newer video card' would be the best thing to try first.

Might be worth trying streaming... Also, you could try changing GBPVR.exe Video Renderer setting to Overlay...
