And what if you want to (re)load a dongle to the mvp?

Is your MVP wired or wireless?

If wireless:
  • Mine is wireless, and I discovered on my Netgear router, I could NOT enable 108mbps mode, otherwise the MVP would not connect.
  • On the router, if you have an access control list setup, make sure the MVP MAC address is listed.
  • On the MVP config, make sure the wireless SID (System ID) is entered (found in the router config admin panels).

From your router config, there is usually a tab that lists connected devices, do you see one that relates to the MVP (you might have to identify via the MAC address printed on the MVP).

When you reboot the MVP (ie unplug), make sure you count to 10, so everything resets and it runs thru the initial configuration again...

If you don't see the MVP on the network, I wouldn't even worry about GBPVR or the Recording Service, you first have to get DHCP to assign an IP address so the MVP can 'talk' on the network.

Once you verify that the MVP has been assigned an IP (and you can ping the IP from the server):
- make sure GBPVR config has at least 1 mvp server process defined
- check the MVP logs, you should be able to see the mvp trying to connect to download the dongle.

The recording service just launches PVRX2 which accepts the incoming UDP and TCP connections. It doesn't know anything about the MVP

Ok, thanks. I always thought the recservice was feeding the dongle etc. I must admit that I don't know why I thought so.Smile
