NMT/HD-PVR question and Only 1 MVP server

Hi All

Apologies for all the support posts i've submitted (and will submit!), I am trying to integrate an eGreat M34A into my setup and having a few difficulties. First question; playing around with watching shows from the guide, I had a few instances of black screens when I selected an HD channel. I haven't tested it thoroughly, but it seemed like if
1) My HD STB was currently tuned to an SD channel
2) I tried to watch an HD channel through the NMT/GB-PVR
GB-PVR would fire up the HD-PVR and then switch the STB channel, but I would get no video. At least one time I tried to watch the HD chan again and it worked the second time. Is that a "feature" of the HD-PVR, that it doesn't deal well with switching resolutions when a recording has been started?

Second issue; an apparent problem starting multiple MVP server instances. I have my new NMT and an old MVP I'd like to run simultaneously (2 TV sets). I upped my MVP servers to 3 in the config screen (because 2 wasn't working) and here's what happens; my config.xml (attached) shows what I would expect

but when I look in my logs (also attached) I see

When I alt-tab I can only find 1 MVP Controller process. I am assuming that these observations explain why I am unable to use my MVP when my NMT is up; the MVP times out on connecting to server. Any ideas on how to get GB-PVR to start at least 2 servers?

There isn't an mpvmcx2 question here is there? First I'd focus on the HDPVR and I am sure I have written of may experience

- configure your STB to output a constant resolution sub really should allow an option to tune the channel twice but he hasn't responded to my request given that the constant resolution can be a workaround

- I use the GraphRecorder plugin for the HDPVR in 1.4.7 but I expect there will be improvement is 1.5

For the AutoStart issue remember it should be 1 if you want to provide logs to support mvpmcx2 problems. Use config.exe to update it to ensure the recording service sees the change. If it is still a problem search for other config.xml

Thanks Martin. On the HD-PVR I'll try your suggestion, or wait for 1.5. I'd like to try the Graphrecorder plugin but to be honest I am over my head when it comes to these graphs, I tried to understand how they work when I was struggling with playback on my PC.

on the Autostart, what I want to do is have both my MVP and my NMT on at the same time. My problem is that when my NMT is on I can't start my MVP. If I set "Number of servers" to 1 will I be able to use both an NMT and an MVP? It seemed strange that when I set the value to 2 or 3 in config.exe, the logs still show

despite the scary name, I looked at the "dont-edit-me" XML file, and it shows

Is that correct?

The don't edit me file is supposed to be zero. As I wrote before search out other config.xml files and use config.exe to change the settings.

I gave GraphRecord a shot, unsuccessful so I'll post in the other thread.

Sorry to be dense but I don't understand "search out other config.xml files". There is only 1 config.xml, in my GBPVR directory. Do you mean search them out online? Or do you mean delete any config.xml on my machine?

Search for other config.xml files on your system. That AutoStart 1 is coming from somewhere.

You were right! There were 4 config.xml scattered across my system, one in windows\system32. When I deleted them all everything started working again. And I got the GraphRecorder plugin working, so that's great too- tanks for the advice. I am now seeing occassional lockups on the NMT, where GB-PVR menus still work but when I play a show I get a black screen. I have set servers to 1 to get proper logs; is there any logging done on the NMT?

Glad you've got this far. There is information on the NMT via telnet logs, but for now your GBPVR logs are what I need to see.

I'm having some difficulty w/ GraphRecorder so I've gone back to Analog HiDef for the time being. I've been playing around with the NMT, mostly trying to view recordings already made by either the HD-PVR or my SD recorders. I have repeated issues where the NMT gets into a state where it will navigate GB-PVR menus, but when I go to play a video I get a black screen. Often there is audio, but no picture. If I hit the stop button I go back to the GB-PVR menu. Exiting GB-PVR and restarting seems to fix it, but is a bit of a pain. I'm attaching logs, but a frequent entry I See when I'm having this issue is

Hope you can help out here, when it works the NMT is very nice. It's an eGreat m34A, I am using the lircd1 addon to allow my MCE remote to work with it. It's wired into the same switch as my GBPVR machine, and I ave a single HDMI connection to my receiver, having enabled audio over HDMI in the NMT setup.
