Newbie questions & problems :)

Hi all,

first of all, all best wishes for 2 O O 8 !

After looking into different pvr software's i decided to install GBPVR in networking setup :
- 1 server in the basement with windows 2003, and an hauppauge PVR-500 MCE, running GBPVR of course
- 2 pc's in the house (connected to tv's) with GBPVR installed as described in the wiki for networking mode. (pointing to a share on the server etc...)

some problems and question i have got :
1. what is the difference between GBPVR and PVRX2 ?
2. when i watch tv on the pc's with gbpvr the image is less sharp then with the original builtin tv tuner, is this something i can improve by settings ?
3. when i run GBPVR the tv-guide is filled, just like on the server, but when i open the tv guide in PVRX2, it is empty... on the bottom just displaying some @..... parameters... what did i do wrong ?
4. on the tv guide, everything is 1 hour in delay... when a programme stops at 16h30, it says 17h30 on the tv guide, although, i checked the xml file i imported, and all times are correct in there...

i hope someone can help me out.

GBPVR.exe was the old user interface that is no longer updated, and will soon be dropped. PVRX2.exe is the current user interface.

There is an extra analog->digital->analog conversion occurring as the card receives the analog signal, converts it to MPEG2, then later converts it back to analog. This can soften the picture a bit.

That said, usually the thing that impacts the quality the most is the video decoder and quality of your videocard.

Have a look on the channels tab of the config app. I think you have somehow ended up with multiple channels with the same number?

Either the timezone is set incorrectly on your machine (or no auto adjust for daylight saving), or your xmltv files do not have the correct times.
