I know this is probably a very simple answer but I am new here so please have pity on me. I recently purchased a Hauppauge HVR-1600 tuner and was disappointed that it would not lock in my QAM channels from Comcast even when signal strength was high using WinTV v6. Very frustrating indeed!! I read somewhere on-line that GBPVR would read these even when WinTV would not. Well, it did and I am in the process of figuring out the rest of the GBPVR software.
Now, my problem. I have setup (3) capture devices (analog tuner, QAM digital tuner, and an external composite input) all that come from the HVR1600. When I attempt to either watch or record, I can only get the analog tuner channels and I can't figure out how to switch to my other devices no matter how much I searched. Help!

It'll automatically choose a capture source based on what channel you're trying to watch. ie, if the channel is only listed as enabled on the QAM tuner, then it'll use the QAM capture source for viewing that channel.

If the channel is available on multiple capture sources, then it'll most likely use the capture source that has the channel, is available, and is closest to the bottom of the list in the config app.

OK, I think I understand. Since all my QAM channels are also available in analog, I should put the QAM tuner lower in my config app if I want to see them over the analog channel. Correct?
Is it then possible to manually add channels in case I want to seperate my digital QAM channels from their corresponding analog partners? Would this also allow me to add the third device (external input on the HVR1600) as a channel?

Bottom of the list is most likely to be used for live tv. Top of the list is most likely to be used for recording. Its up to you if you would prefer the QAM channels to be used for live tv or recording.

Some people do this so that they get different channels for the digital ones. I'm not sure of the exact steps they go through to do this.

Ok, it all seems to be working now. I was able to add the external input device on an empty channel that I don't receive on the cable. I gave it a name (VCR) and now it shows up in the TV guide as the "VCR" channel. No listings of course but now I can watch and then record my tapes in MPEG2 format and eventually burn them to DVD. Thanks for the help!!
