QAM Crashing GBPVR

Hello,

I'm trying to map digital channels with an HVR 1600 (..41 model) and it keeps crashing the config. Last night it would only crash if I'd try to preview, but I was able to save the data. It just crashed all on it's own and lost the data I just waited 25 minutes for! GBPVR.exe and GBPVR2.exe both crashed when trying to access any QAM channels as soon as sound started playing. I could run them in wintv2000, though the signal was dodgy (fixed that).

Driver for the 1600 is 1.62.25129.0 (5/9/2007)
Running current version of GBPVR
Also have a Hauppauge 350 with current drivers from the site
7600GS via DVI to RPHDTV
Use Abit NF7 mobo's onboard sound with current nforce drivers.

Any ideas?

Ran filmerit and it found some errors, so I'll give it another shot.

That did the trick... GBPVR picks up way more than wintv2000 does... good job, SUB! I love you...

New problem though... once I come back to analog form digital, I have no sound.

sub is out of town for a couple of weeks so you may want to bump this thread then. in the meantime, zip and post your logs after getting the audio issue. Probably something sub will have to look at but we can give it a shot.

Do you have Comcast as your cable company?

Apparently there is some problem with the HVR1600 and Comcast. I have Comcast and have never been able to record reliably from QAM, and like you, it crashes frequently on the GBPVR channel mapping screen. I had Comcast come out and check my signal levels (said it was "stronger than most"), so I contacted Hauppauge who said they are aware of the problem and should have a fix "real soon". That was several weeks ago, so who knows how long "real soon" will take...

For now I'm using over-the-air ATSC antenna which works well as long as I can get my signal strength above 22 or so.

**First off, sorry I didn't include any logs. I've been working on this for a few days (not just gbpvr, but the htpc in general) and was a bit frazzled at the time.

Anthony, I have Charter and ironed out the problem by running filmerit.

As for my second problem where gbpvr would lock up coming back to analog from digital, changing some mux setting somewhere in the gbpvr setup did the trick. I'm at work and can't tell you what I changed.

I'm now having issues with random lockups and crashes durring normal gbpvr functions, especially after pausing. GBPVR.exe seems to work ok, but after I change channels I have to pause/unpause again so it doesn't stutter like crazy. GBPVR2.exe chokes almost every time, and I have to end task, then relaunch.

I'm not asking any questions just yet, but it's just strange. I used gbpvr for a while now, but not for regular viewing for maybe 6 months or so. Finally got my pc into the living room to run dedicated (fresh install of xp pro) and NOW it's all freaking out on me. The only reason I'm in any hurry is because I have to convince the wife it's worth it! She does like it when it works, but if it has any lockup issues, she'll start complaining. Anyways, I hope to put a good chunk of time into it this weekend. If I keep having the crashes I'll start a new thread with the logs actually posted.

Once I updated my DirectVobSub (Was on 2.33 and now on 2.37) all my crashing went away, and I was able to view all the QAM channels without crashing.

Now I need to figure out where I'm going to put all this GB's worth of video I record.
