Video distorted

the live tv/recordings are distorted when i watch them on my computer there is a black strip on the top and bottom of the screen, the menus are fine. I have tried setting it to both 4:3 and 16:9 in config, but it doesn't make a difference.

Any suggestions??

Are you recording in digital or analogue?

Maybe the blacks bars are because thats how the broadcaster is sending the signal out? (and if they don't show with the same signal when put straight into your tv, because the TV may overscan so you don't see them)

I have pillarbox lines on my screen when 4:3 content is sent on the 16:9 satellite channel.
Have you tried pressing F7 to cycle through the aspect ratios?

Also, what vide decder are you using? Is it set to raw aspect ratio, and is it explicitly set in the config app (not system default) as the auto aspect ratio will not work with system default.

is there anyway to set one of those aspect ratios as a default.

when is press F7 i can make it work, however when i change a channel it goes back to what it was before

In the config.xml file there are these:

Set the auto to the same as the aspect ratio you want full time (or I think you can create others) and that should work with each channel.
