I can confirm that I have this same issue. When the progress bar fills up, the video stutters, you see the play icon for a second in the top right corner, then the video clears up and the sound never comes back. I change channels up then back and sound is restored, but as soon as progress bar is full again same thing happens.

I've still not had a sound droppage since my last post.  I am having problems with the video freezing at the end of a program, which I have comments posted in the LiveTV freezes at end of program thread.

One other thing I remember I have changed since my sound dropping out originally with 2311 was I was using a composite->S-Video adapter using composite 2 as my source, with audio input coming from my digital cable box.  I've rewired my TV due to getting some new hardware plugged in as I'm out of inputs, anyway, since my sound problems have gone away, I've been running with the coaxial input, which surprisingly looks just as good as the composite.  It could be that something on the card or GB-PVR is handling the audio differently between the connections, I don't know.

If you are using S-Video or composite inputs, you could try the coax and see if that fixes it, but it could be something else, I'm just reporting my experience.

Anyone with this problem - I'd like to get one of these files with no audio, so I can take a closer look.

Can you please reproduce the problem so that it generates one of these files with no audio. Ideally stop it just a few seconds after the file switch so that the file is only a few megabytes, then email it to me at support@devnz.com.

Thanks

I see this issue on s-video input. I can confirm that switching to a coax input appears to prevent the problem from happening on my system. I've emailed sub who suspects a driver issue, so my question is to the other guys who saw this problem. Can either of you confirm that earlier versions of gbpvr did not see this issue and if so which version, and can I get hold of a copy to try

TIA

Hi Andy, I'm currently using version 227 and do not have the problem, or any other major problems with the software. It is "very" stable for me at this time, but by going back to the prior version, I am losing some features such as the timeshifting, but stability has to win out in the end. You should be able to search the forum for a link to the older version, I know I seen such a post last month. Otherwise, if you can't find it, email me and I can send it to you. chadwills@charter.net

Many thanks, I've found the link, will try 227 tonight. I can live without the ffd functions. What an annoying problem though. I tried all sorts of drivers without making any progress. I wonder why it affects just a few people......There must be something common, but no idea what!

I can confirm that I too have the same problem...mine is only seen on the s-video connection, and as people before have mentioned, drops every time at the end of a "program". I think my setup might be a bit unique, and to me, thus far, it's not a big deal only a slight inconvenience. I have cable connected through the coax, but have my satellite (DTV) piped in over s-video. Interestingly, when I record entire programs from the s-video input, I never drop sound, but if I'm watching satellite through the LiveTV plugin, sound drops at the end of every hour (it's in one hour blocks because there's no EPG data for it). I'm running 2313 (the latest?).

Cheers Chad, 227 works fine. I note that it doesn't open a new file on program switches so I guess there's quite a lot of differences in how this version works.

Thanks for the post Pov, I was wondering if this problem might occur with specific mobo/chipsets . My specs

msi - k7n2 deltaL (nforce2 based)
AMD 2.4+ CPU
Radeon 9600XT
512 RAM
PVR350
XP, SP2.

I use a direct s-video out from a Grundig Sky box, no other inputs.

Not a lot in common there just the PVR250/350 and the fact that this appears only to happen on s-video i/p.

Lets hope a future version of something fixes this.

I assume there are people out there with similar configurations working fine....

hey andy --

my more detailed hw specs :
ASUS P4R8L mobo
p4 celeron d 2.66 ghz
radeon 9100 (integrated)
ADI AD1888 (sound card, integrated)
512 mb ram (pc3200)
pvr250
win2k sp4

I use s-video from my direcTV receiver, but use coax for normal cable, and this issue only occurs on the s-video connection, but happens 10 out of 10 times.

originally, my guess was perhaps a bug with the s-video input, and given your input, i think that's probably still my best guess...we do both have radeon graphics cards (and pvr250/350), but i can't see that being the issue. of course, what do i know?

pov.
